Meet ClickMail’s Management Team
Chief Executive Officer
Marco Marini has been at the forefront of email marketing since its inception as a channel. Prior to co-founding ClickMail, Marco developed pioneering email campaigns for CyberSource, eHealthInsurance, DoveBid and IBM Canada while holding key marketing roles in those organizations.
Through his experience on both sides of the email marketing table--client and agency--Marco has developed significant expertise in using email to its full potential to generate substantial return on investment for marketers, management and investors.
As CEO at ClickMail, Marco’s main focus is defining the company’s strategy. However, he also spends time advising clients on how to leverage enterprise-level ESP technology as a primary engine for business growth. His expertise in every aspect of email enables Marco to guide clients and ClickMail’s internal teams to develop sophisticated campaigns that employ best-in-class strategies, overcome technical hurdles, and meet business objectives.
Marco was born in Canada and grew up in Italy. He and his wife are the parents of four children. He is active in the Silicon Valley Italian Executives Council and is on the Northern California board of Stop Hunger Now.
Chief Technology Officer
Cameron Kane is ClickMail’s lead technology expert, heading up the technology group at ClickMail. Cameron focuses on customizing enterprise-level ESPs on behalf of clients. (See Cameron’s whitepaper on ESP customization.)
As the CTO at ClickMail, Cameron maintains an up-to-the minute understanding of current email technology, and how to apply that ever-evolving technology to achieve clients’ business objectives. He also has a unique ability to communicate highly technical information in a way business people can easily understand. That enables him to act as a bridge between the marketing and IT groups of ClickMail’s clients.
Cameron’s primary responsibilities are to first understand clients’ business objectives, and to then make it possible to achieve those objectives by designing technology solutions that optimize each client’s ESP and email strategy.
Cameron also speaks regularly at industry conferences. Most recently he presented at ExactTarget’s Connections 2013, introducing an eager audience to eMVision, ClickMail’s innovative visual reporting and analytics tool based on Tableau Software.
Before joining ClickMail as CTO, Cameron ran Strategic Design Group, a San Francisco–based agency he founded in 2001. The agency was acquired by ClickMail in 2011 when Cameron joined the executive team.
Cameron is a proud father who enjoys flying and sailing in his spare time.
Michael Kelly helped to found ClickMail in 2000, bringing 16 years’ experience to the company. Today his years in the industry number 30 and he is regarded as one of Silicon Valley’s most knowledgeable email marketing experts.
Michael has an in-depth knowledge of technology, and how that technology can be used to customize ESPs for maximum effectiveness. Like Cameron, Michael can speak to both the technical and business aspects of an email strategy. He understands the complexities of a technology but communicates the results in plain speak for his business audience.
An in-demand speaker, Michael regularly presents at ESP and industry user conferences. Most recently, he presented at EmailWorld 2013, speaking about factors to consider when choosing a new email service provider. Michael has also been on the faculty at USF (University of San Francisco) and ASM (Association of Strategic Marketing) teaching and sharing best practices in email marketing.
Michael is a card-carrying alien (from Canada), but plans to get naturalized in 2014. He is involved in the intentional parenting of four children, but when he’s not busy with the kids, he’s an enthusiastic motorcyclist, snowboarder, and lover of gadgets and techno-geekery.
Chief Financial Officer
Russ Cerminaro has more than 20 years’ executive management experience with direct mail, fulfillment and email marketing companies. Russ helped to found ClickMail in 2000. His focus is leading the development and management of systems that deliver a smooth client experience and generate client results. In his role as CFO, Russ also leads ClickMail’s finance and legal departments.
In addition to his involvement with ClickMail, Russ has built two successful direct-response marketing companies.
Russ was born and raised in upstate New York, and moved to California to be entrepreneurial. In his spare time he enjoys boating, wakeboarding and traveling. In addition to his managerial skills, Russ also has a creative side, and pursues photography, video and music.
Vice President of Sales
Brian Steacy has been a technology sales professional with fast-growth companies for over 20 years. Brian has deep expertise working with email service providers, especially ExactTarget. Brian worked in sales at ExactTarget before joining ClickMail as the vice president of sales in 2008.
Brian has a unique ability to blend his technology background with email marketing objectives. At ClickMail, he partners with clients to understand their objectives and challenges, then works to help them find solutions.
Brian has particular affinity for marketing automation, Big Data and tough email integration challenges. One benefit of Brian’s expertise is his ability to help clients overcome what he calls “technology hairballs”--those prickly problems that marketers often confront when trying to make technology work the way they want it to.
Prior to joining ExactTarget (and later ClickMail), Brian held key sales roles with the American Marketing Association’s Silicon Valley and Sacramento chapters, as well as Sun Microsystems.
Brian was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been married to wife Julie for almost 25 years. They have one lovely daughter, now in college.
Next to helping his favorite charity BestBuddies and contributing to his clients' marketing successes, Brian loves cycling long distances. During 2014, Brian will be training to complete 746 miles in under 90 hours in the Paris-Brest-Paris ride in 2015.
Director of Customer Success
An email strategy expert, Grant Johnson has worked in email marketing since 2004, and online marketing prior to that. During his past 10 years in the email industry, Grant has developed an in-depth knowledge that’s invaluable when he’s advising ClickMail clients on how to use email to grow their businesses.
As the Director of Customer Success at ClickMail, Grant is committed to ensuring ClickMail’s clients are using best practices to achieve success in their email marketing efforts. At ClickMail, Grant consults with clients on all aspects of their email processes and procedures, with a focus on working with a concrete strategy and making best use of technology.
Before joining ClickMail in 2010, Grant worked in key customer relationship roles at email service providers ExactTarget and Lyris. He also worked at agency Xylem Digital as Director of Database Marketing.
Grant owes his passion for data-driven marketing to his youth in the "Show Me" state. There must be something to that nickname. Grant brings a Midwestern sensibility to Bay Area–based ClickMail, having grown up in Missouri and lived most of his adult life in the upper Midwest. He and his husband recently said “good bye” to city life, and now live in rural Wisconsin with four rescued dogs.
